Cincinnati Reds - Case Study

Timecard Hassles Going... Going... Gone!

Major League Baseball team comes away with a time tracking victory. The Cincinnati Reds, winners of the 1990 World Series, employ between 50 and 100 hourly year round employees, but when the regular season gets into full swing every April, the workforce at Great American Ball Park balloons to between 1000 and 1300 employees. After disappointment with their previous time tracking arrangement, the Reds' front office searched for a system that could easily handle the coding of hours for a mix of full-time and part-time employees, as well as the major league level turnaround associated with the stadium's fluctuating workforce. The Reds did not have to look far, opting to go with the workforce management solutions provided by Cincinnati Time Systems and the NOVAtime 3000.

The Cincinnati Reds management team enjoys the ease of use and variety of options that the NOVAtime 3000 provides. Full-time, year-round, employees use badges to track their time, while the more variable stadium workforce uses the last four digits of their social security numbers to avoid constantly reprinting badges. The system also works seamlessly with the Reds' payroll provider and has allowed the organization to cut labor costs. "It saves a lot of time," comments Leanna Weiss, the Reds' payroll manager. "It enables us to use less staff in the payroll department compared to other baseball teams that I have talked to." Cincinnati Time Systems stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park.

With such a multifaceted workforce at Great American Ball Park and in the Reds' front office, accurate and efficient workforce management becomes a must. Cincinnati Time Systems continues to be there to help the Reds solve their time tracking issues and realize success on and off the field. "It is always easy to get a hold of our local representative and get issues addressed and resolved promptly," says Weiss. "Overall, the system is easy to use, we have no problems. We're impressed with the work they do and the products they offer."
